American Alliance of Museums picks current COO to be new chief executive

The American Alliance of Museums has tapped its second in command to become its next leader, officials announced Thursday.Laura L. Lott, who has served as chief operating officer since 2010, will become chief executive of the national organization that advocates and sets standards and policies for museums across the country. She succeeds Ford Bell, who will retire in May after seven years.
